Been waiting for your take on this. It certainly didn't disappoint. I don't profess to know anything about vocal techniques but I agree wholeheartedly that her live performances are mesmerising. Chinchilla is utterly captivating and brings the listener along on an emotional journey seemingly with ease. Undoubtedly she deserves to be mentioned alongside those other established and revered female vocalists. It surely is only a matter of time before the world sits up and takes notice of such a wonderful artist.

This has been my biggest problem! Thank you! I sing like a pro when alone or not thinking about what others think. But when i think i will perform etc i get stuck and get into negative thinking! Its also due to old cimments, it sticks with you! You should have a video on how to get rid of those comments. Its torture sommetime! Esp youtube comment sextion is like worst place in world as beginner. Its hard to get through that

Man, music is magic!!! Chinchilla transports you into her world, and then some bloke in New Zealand is connected to your world to share that magic. I’m 54 and disabled and in constant pain, but seeing your reaction and hearing her voice makes that small corner of my day better. Thank you. Btw, my voice is a distant cousin of Bob Dylan, but imagine I’m from the shallow end of the swimming pool, is there a way to make a silk purse out of a violently abused pigs ear? It's funny Chris, I have been feeling a bit tired of reaction vids that for some reason lately haven't been stimulating any new kind of enjoyment for me in the music I adore... but then I saw your vid on 1:5 and practically jumped with excitement to watch it haha. And wasn't disappointed, your expressive listening and analysis of how an artist portrays emotion and ideas through their voices just fills some specific void in my listening experience, ticks them boxes. Thanks bro!

I don't normally like these kind of ballads or the kind of people who make entire careers out of blasting them out (no names mentioned but I'm sure you'll all think of one or two!). Having said that, this lady is superb and, like her friend Ren, has made me enjoy the performance and the song despite the genre not being my usual thing. Great analysis as usual, too, Chris :)

Chinchilla has literally become my favourite female singer of all time, except from Inger Lise Hope who resently won the Norwegian Voice competition. She has a voice like Whitney Houston and Barbara Streisand in one package. Listen to her singing "ADAGIO", (I wonder how Dimash and she will sound together.) just a thought 💭

Bro you earned a big supporter and my admiration here. I love seeing people talking SO passionately about their field and your reactions on Oli's vocals are amazing. Because well, I am too always in such awe listening to his singing voice. Cheers!

That last minute…it takes an incredible performance up to that point and send it into the stratosphere. You mentioned how she reaches out and drags emotion out of you, and that part…it gets me every time. I honestly think this isn’t just her best performance (out of many amazing performances) but it’s one of the best vocal performances I’ve ever heard from anyone. It’s not just the power and skill, it’s exactly as you describe, all those thousands of little subtle inflections and tones that make it so human and raw and emotional AND its powerful and skilled. Sure, some singers can sing incredibly pure tones and runs, sure some singers have soul and feeling and emotion, but bringing them both together like that…? That’s lightning in a bottle - that’s a performance for the ages. I’ve said on many comments, I think that’s a performance that people will remember where they were and what they were doing when they first heard it. She’s clearly a legendary talent like Whitney, like Beyoncé, like Adel, like Aretha, you name them, Chinchilla deserves to be listed right there with them.
